Under the ornate glass cupola and behind a facade of green foliage and moisture laden spaces, lurk sexual experts with millions of years of successful (or not) mating exploits. Some of these experts have various and sundry methods for survival that include carnivorous habits, drug producing techniques and sexual mystiques.
After the tourists go home and the plants have the freedom to show their real nature, our guides will walk us through the darkened pathways of this historic glass house introducing us to some of their stories of survival in the Tropics. We will be offered our own aphrodisiacs (wine by JAQK Cellars and eco.love) to give us courage to carry through the galleries for sustenance!
We will also get a peek at the new exhibit - Playland at the Conservatory- featuring model railroads and mechanical nostalgia from "Playland at the Beach", San Francisco's long gone but not forgotten amusement park at Ocean Beach. It’s the hedonism of yesteryear in miniature, with historic landmarks and Playland rides recreated from found objects. A few relics remain - and function - in life size: let Zoltar divine your future with a fortune telling and just hope you don’t get mocked by Laffing Sal. Snuggle up with your date in the photo booth, and if you’re lucky take a ride in the restored Dodger Bumper Car. Learn about prison inmate Jack Harrington, and challenge your date to be as swashbuckling -but at all costs, avoid the Wall of Mirrors…
